           David Thayer

David is an Air Force veteran, serving in the early 1970’s as the Viet Nam war was winding down. He was trained in electronic repair. He is currently active in local Veteran’s groups.

His photographic career began in Las Vegas, Nevada in April of 1974 as a way to illustrate his writing at the time. He attended Maine Photographic Institute and Brooks Institute after attending UNLV in the 70’s and mentored with the best commercial photographer in Las Vegas, gaining invaluable experience in every area, from portraiture and food to architecture and sports. Professional affiliations have included Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and American Writers Association Institute (AWAI).

David’s photographs and artworks have been acquired by individuals and corporations around the world, from North America to Europe and Central  America and South America. Resorts and hospitality organizations in Belize were frequent buyers of his artwork, “in and of Belize”. Six shows, four of which were solo shows, established David as a successful photographer and artist for the country and related themes. Teaching  photography and structured photo walks were regular activities in Belize.

Now, having returned to the United States after “retiring” for ten years in Belize, he is living in North Carolina and continuing to create photographic art to enhance the lives of others.

Work has been juried into the Stanly Art Guild and his award winning entry in his first show indicates his artistic career is going to continue.
